March 31 Update – Amazing renderings of House Alde

Tags

Hey all, a smaller update today.  One of my alts is finishing up with Alderaan, so I found some areas that I hadn’t noticed in my previous playthrough.  One of these is House Alde, which seems to be important to the Imperial side (no quests for Republic Side, no interactivity either).  It was quite cool to see, and I was able to construct another “LittleBigPlanet” rendering that I’d like to share.

Next week I’ll tackle another planet!  Really excited about 1.2 dropping, anyone else?

I’m back!  Mass effected like crazy and loved it (every second of it, including the ending), then hit a bit of a lull where almost everything I did, even in SWTOR, seemed less epic (hey, I changed the entire universe!).  Fortunately, my SWTOR bug came back and I decided to take a photographer’s walk through Alderaan.

From Wookiepedia:

Alderaan, located in the Core Worlds, was the second planet in the Alderaan system, and the home of many famous heroes, including Leia Organa Solo, Bail Organa, and Ulic Qel-Droma. Renowned galaxy-wide for their planet’s unspoiled beauty, refined culture, and commitment to peace, Alderaanians worked with and around the land to preserve as much of the natural surroundings as they could.

Originally the home of the Killiks, Alderaan was later conquered by Humans. Despite a battle during the Great Galactic War and a civil war during the subsequent Cold War, Alderaan remained peaceful during much of galactic history. However, in 0 BBY, Grand Moff Tarkin and the Galactic Empire wanted to intimidate the galaxy into submission, and destroyed the unarmed and peaceful planet using the first Death Star’s superlaser.

Probably one of the more photogenic planets in SWTOR, there are vast landscapes to capture.  I’ve focused on the mountain landscapes; however I’ve included some great interior shots – particularly of House Organa, which is probably one of my favourite all time bonus images.  Enjoy!

No updates this weekend, sorry! Was Effecting some Mass.

I was able to construct a panorama of Mass Effect 3, however.  Spoilers: includes characters you can recruit in the game.

Hopefully back with some panoramas next week!  Finished ME3 today.  I have been reading nonstop online hate for the endings of ME3, and all I can say is: Mass Effect, from the first title to the last, is great.  Thank you, Bioware, for making such an epic tale.

FEATURED PLANET:  VOSS

Back with another planet!  From Wookieepedia:
Voss was a planet located within the Voss system of the Outer Rim Territories. It was inhabited by Gormak and a less numerous species, who were named Voss like the planet. The two were engaged in warfare for many years circa 3,653 BBY. The Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire discovered the planet shortly after the signature of the Treaty of Coruscant.

Voss is visually so striking, I love this planet.  This comes by request, so hopefully you all enjoy it!

USER SUBMISSION: Alderaan and Balmorra

Löke from Rakata Mind Prison submitted these awesome panoramas – truly an explorer!  The height on these are amazing and inspiring.  Thank you so much to Löke for submitting these – as a reminder, you can always send me images or locations to scope out, and I’d love to share them with everyone.

First up, a tremendous view of the vista and ruins of Alderaan:

Next, a nauseatingly-high view of Balmorra:

All credit to Löke from the Rakata Mind Prison Server – I’ve included his work in my loading screen section.

February 25 – Featured Planet: Nar Shaddaa

I’m going to be doing planet-by-planet features, doing some extended panoramas, loading screens, and sometimes even VR links (couldn’t get it to work properly this week). This week: Nar Shaddaa. From Wikipedia: Nar Shaddaa is the ecumenopolis moon of Nal Hutta. It is also known as The Smuggler’s Moon. Unlike the other ecumenopolis of Coruscant, Nar Shaddaa [is] filthy, polluted and infested with crime.

New Format

To make things easier for updating, I’m changing the format slightly.  From now on, each week will be contained in one post, so there is a lesser frequency of “burst posting” and people who subscribe aren’t inundated.  I’ll keep the tags and categories going, so that you can always search for your favourite locale.

Keep the feedback coming, I’m introducing a very special bonus mission this week!

Cheers,
Dijon

Loading Screens

As requested by a number of users, I’ve created a simple template for making loading screens and will include loading screens for each panorama I create from now on.  It’s very easy to replace your loading screen – make sure to create a backup of the original!  Bioware has suggested to be cautious with this, patching may require a repair if there is an altered background.  Honestly, I’ve never encountered this.  But beware!

Panorama update tomorrow!

Cheers,
Dijon

Plans for the Site

No worries, it’s still free and will have no ads!

I want to have a consistent update frequency – so I’ve decided that friday night-saturday morning will be my upload time.  So every Saturday, check out the new posts.  I will make sure there are never less than 2 new panoramas each week, so the library will continue to grow!

Of course, you can always subscribe to my RSS feed and get an update any time I post!

Wow!

Updates coming… but the new ATI Drivers (1/25/2012) for the 7970 have really improved things.  I can run at my screenshot settings (24xAA, SuperSampling, 2560×1440) at 25 fps!  Go AMD!

Best Intentions

Hello all, thank you for your patience as I get used to the new site.  I had some posts all ready for Friday morning, but they don’t seem to be posting.  I am unfortunately away from my main computer until Sunday, so please hang tight for some updates.  If it is at all possible to post some new panoramas today, I will do so.  If not, the latest by Sunday!  Stay tuned.

In the meantime, check out my interview by the lovely Kristen Archer at torwars.com!

Sincerely,

Dijon
